Cruse Digital Equipment Appoints Managing Director

Industry Veteran to Run US Business

Oak Ridge, NJ:  Cruse Digital Equipment is pleased to announce the appointment of Kurt Ernst as Managing Director, effective October 30, 2000.  Mr. Ernst is a 17-year veteran of the photo and imaging industry, and has held sales and marketing positions with leading companies such as Agfa, ILFORD and Durst Dice America.  He comes to Cruse Digital Equipment from Durst Dice America, where he was employed as Director of Marketing.

“This represents an opportunity for me to build a business from the ground up”, says Ernst.  “Cruse scanners are a best-in-class product that have lacked a strong presence in the US Market.  They are the perfect input tool for labs outputting to inkjet, Durst Lambda, Cymbolic Sciences LightJet or ZBE Chromira printers, and have a wide range of potential applications.  I am eager to work with our distributors and customers alike in the upcoming months”.

Ernst joins Cruse Digital Equipment just as the first Cruse SynchronTM Light models are being delivered.  The patented Synchron Light technology allows for unprecedented scan quality, using lower light intensity than ever before.  Compared to earlier Cruse scanners, Synchron Light models subject original images to 10x lower light exposure, which is critical when handling fragile or sensitive originals.

Cruse Digital Equipment is the US based arm of Cruse GmbH.  Known for the legendary Cruse Camera, Cruse GmbH has focused research and development efforts on creating a line of premium-quality large format scanners.  The resulting Cruse scanners can handle originals as small as a 35mm slide, and as large as 4’x6’ (with a larger, 5’ x 8’ model under development).  Cruse scanners are in place at such locations as the Beethoven Museum in Bonn, Germany; Lucent Technologies in Orlando, FL; NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; and industry-leading photo and repro customers such as Rieger Communications and Bay State Reprographics.
