Cruse Introduces New Archive Scanners at PMA

Aimed At The Museum, Archive and Library Markets

PMA Booth 3291:  Cruse Digital Equipment is debuting the new CS “A” (for Archive) scanners at PMA.  Intended for use by libraries, museums, archives or labs servicing these customers, the “A” version scanners feature a fixed head height, faster scanning and ideal resolutions for scanning books, documents and other published originals.

Available with a black & white head, or color and black & white head, the Archive scanners will make their US debut in PMA Booth 3291.  On display will be a CS 90 A, capable of scanning originals up to 20”x30” in size.  Not shown, but also available immediately is the CS 110 A, capable of handling originals as large as 24”x36”.  All “A” model scanners feature a specially adapted version of Cruse’s patented Synchron lighting system, which provide both even illumination and reduced light exposure for fragile originals.

“The A model scanners are our first products targeted specifically at the library, archive or museum market.  These end users represent a vast, untapped business resource for the photo lab, since museums usually outsource archiving jobs.  The business opportunity for photo labs, coupled with the low cost of the Archive model scanners, is sure to make these new products an immediate success”, says Kurt Ernst, Managing Director of Cruse Digital Equipment.

Cruse scanners are rapidly becoming a recognized name in the museum community. Cruse Digital Equipment is a member of the American Association of Museums and the Museum Computer Network, and will actively participate in museum industry events throughout 2001.

Cruse Digital Equipment is the US based arm of Cruse GmbH.  Known for the legendary Cruse Camera, Cruse GmbH has focused research and development efforts on creating a line of premium-quality large format scanners.  The resulting Cruse scanners can handle originals as small as a 35mm slide, and as large as 5’x8’.  Cruse scanners are in place at such locations as the Beethoven Museum in Bonn, Germany; Lucent Technologies in Orlando, FL; NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; and industry-leading photo and repro customers such as Rieger Communications and Bay State Reprographics.
