Cruse Revises Scanner Product Lines For 2001

Announces Archive, Professional and SL Scanner Lines

PMA Booth 3291:  In an effort to offer a more diverse product line for the photo lab and reprographic markets, Cruse Digital Equipment announces an expanded lineup for 2001.  Beginning with the PMA introduction of the Archive scanner line, Cruse’s product offerings now include four Archive scanners, eight Professional scanners and ten top-of-the line Synchron scanners.

Aimed at photo lab and repro customers servicing the museum, library or archive markets, the newly announced Archive scanners are shown for the first time at PMA.  Archive model scanners will be available in CS 90 A versions (with a 20”x30” original size capacity) and CS 110 A versions (with a 24”x36” original size capacity).  All “A” model scanners feature legendary Cruse quality and reliability, and are available for immediate delivery.

Professional model scanners range in size from the CS 110 P (which handles 24” x 36” originals) to the CS 175 P (which handles 40”x60” originals).  All Professional models are available with a 220 MB or 450 MB head, and all feature the proven side light design.

Synchron light models range from the CS 110 SL (for 24”x36” originals) to the CS 220 SL (for 48” x 72” originals).  Using a patented moving light design, the Synchron scanners are ideal for critical scanning applications where priceless originals can be damaged by harsh studio lighting.  Synchron scanners subject the original to 10x less light exposure than our Professional models, while providing a constant, even illumination across all surface types.  To maximize versatility, all SL models are available in 220 MB and 450 MB head configurations.

Per Kurt Ernst, Managing Director of Cruse Digital Equipment, “We are introducing four new Archive scanners and four new Synchron scanners for 2001.  In addition, we’ve re-examined how our scanners are manufactured.  By using a modular construction and sharing frames across multiple models, our intention is to reduce customer lead time and to keep our prices reasonable.  We believe that Cruse scanners are the finest large format scanners available, and represent an incredible value for the investment required.”

Cruse Digital Equipment is the US based arm of Cruse GmbH.  Known for the legendary Cruse Camera, Cruse GmbH has focused research and development efforts on creating a line of premium-quality large format scanners.  The resulting Cruse scanners can handle originals as small as a 35mm slide, and as large as 5’x8’.  Cruse scanners are in place at such locations as the Beethoven Museum in Bonn, Germany; Lucent Technologies in Orlando, FL; NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; and industry-leading photo and repro customers such as Rieger Communications and Bay State Reprographics.
